2018, Linocut and Woodcut on Japanese Paper, Hardwood Ply, Linoleum
This series of prints contains a merging of imagery from two acclaimed animations: Disney’s adaption of Pinocchio and Otomo’s cyberpunk classic Akira. In both features, characters are punished for their hubris by being transformed, into donkeys and monsters respectively. The use of colour and space was inspired by illustrations from both children’s books and medieval manuscripts. This work was first shown at Modern Painters, New Decorators in a two-person show with Jackie Berridge in February 2018.
